Longer measurement range and better measurement precision have to be compromised.
A camera with a measurement range of 10m will have about 2 times more noise (σ)
than a camera with 5m range under similar measuring condition (absolute precision
unchanged). The trade-off between measurement range and measurement accuracy
is highly dependent on the requirements of the end application. Please note that
the measurement range definition differs from the traditional definition used for 2D cameras.

IP ratings definition:

The IP rating is coded as follows:
First Number: classifies the degree of protection against access to hazardous parts of the
camera (e.g. electrical parts, moving parts) and intrusion of objects or other solid matters
such as dust.
Second Number: classifies the degree of protection against the intrusion of liquids into the
housing the housing.
IP40: Protected against ingress of objects larger than 1mm;
no access to hazardous parts of the camera for objects smaller than 1mm.
Not protected against ingression of water (in particular the USB or Ethernet connectors)
IP67: Protected against any intrusion, including dust;
complete protection against access to hazardous parts.
No ingression of water in harmful quantities when camera immersed in water at up to 1 meter,
for a limited time of 30 minutes
